Genetics-Informed Therapist Directory

Find a therapist who understands the emotional impact of genetic experiences

Finding the right therapist can feel especially important when you are navigating a genetic diagnosis, loss, family illness, fertility decisions, pregnancy after loss, or the emotional impact of inherited conditions.

The Saiyna Therapy Directory is being developed to connect individuals, couples, and families with therapists who have completed genetics-informed training and are committed to working with care, curiosity, and relational depth.

Genetic testing, inherited conditions, reproductive decisions, diagnosis, risk, uncertainty, grief, and family history can all shape emotional well-being. This directory helps you to find therapists who can hold both the psychological and relational complexities that often accompany genetic and medical experiences, with warmth, sensitivity, and compassion.

What is genetics-informed therapy?

Genetics-informed therapy is not genetic counselling.

It is an understanding of how genetic experiences can impact clients emotionally, relationally, and psychologically, and the added layers that may be present in the therapy room, including uncertainty, grief, family relationships, identity, caregiving, reproductive decisions, and inherited risk.

This may include:

  • Genetic testing anxiety

  • Huntington’s disease or other inherited conditions

  • Living with genetic risk

  • Reproductive decisions, IVF, PGT, or pregnancy after diagnosis

  • Grief, anticipatory loss, or ambiguous loss

  • Family communication and secrecy

  • Identity, belonging, disability, culture, and intergenerational experiences

A genetics-informed therapist understands that genetic experiences often affect more than one person. They impact families, relationships, futures, and the stories we carry.

Saiyna Therapy Directory

A culturally attuned and anti-oppressive approach

Genetic experiences do not happen in isolation. They are shaped by culture, family systems, disability, race, migration, gender, class, faith, medical systems, and access to care. Therapists listed in this directory are encouraged to work with cultural humility, anti-oppressive awareness, and respect for each client’s unique identity and lived experience.

Important note: Therapists listed here are independent practitioners. Saiyna Therapy provides training in genetics-informed practice, but each therapist is responsible for their own clinical work, insurance, professional registration, safeguarding, fees, availability, and ethical practice. Please contact therapists directly to ask about their approach, experience, fees, and suitability.
