About Me

Hi, I’m Uruj (she/her). Originally from Pakistan, I’ve also lived in Peru, Canada, and now call England home. My diverse experiences have shaped my deep appreciation for cultural differences and the challenges of balancing family values with personal identity. As a parent, I understand the real-life struggles of pregnancy, birth, and raising children while managing multiple roles.

With over 9 years as a genetic counsellor in the NHS, I’ve worked with individuals and families navigating life-changing diagnoses, which adds a unique perspective to my therapeutic approach.

I retrained as a Therapeutic Counsellor in Kent, specialising in Attachment-Based Psychotherapy. I help clients understand how early relationships shape their present, guiding them toward self-awareness and emotional healing.

I’ve supported clients through anxiety, depression, grief, loss, perinatal challenges, and more. My passion lies in supporting clients with perinatal issues, genetic concerns- including Huntington's Disease- and complex medical needs, and I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of neurodiverse clients.

I'm proud to contribute to The Maypole Project, supporting families with complex medical needs, and MumsAid, providing counselling for mothers from ethnic minority backgrounds. I also co-tutor a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Attachment-Based Psychotherapy, helping train the next generation of therapists, and work as a Clinical Supervisor supporting counsellors in their professional development.

If you're ready to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, I’d love to support you along the way. Let’s connect.

My Approach

I'm a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their ethical standards to ensure safe and compassionate care. I offer flexible, one-to-one online therapy, creating a supportive and confidential space for you.

My approach is centered around building a trusting and supportive relationship, which is key to helping you explore and work through your challenges. I also use a range of practical tools, like helping you understand how your thoughts and feelings are connected (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), looking at patterns in how you relate to others (Transactional Analysis), and teaching you ways to stay present and calm through mindfulness techniques. Together, we'll find the best ways to support you and your unique needs.
